What is coronavirus?

Corona-viruses were discovered in the 1960s early of that century ; the first virus discovered were virus in chickens and two viruses from the  nasal cavities of human patients with the  common  that were subsequently named human coronavirus229E  and  human coronavirus OC43.

Almost everyone gets a coronavirus disease at least once in their whole life, most likely as a young child. In the Abroad, coronaviruses are more common in the winter season, but anyone can come down with a coronavirus disease at any time.

The name of the word   "coronavirus" is derived from the Latin  word corona, It means crown, which refers to the characteristic appearance of the affected  virus particles : they have a fringe reminiscent  of the solar corona.

Coronaviruses primarily affect the upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of mammals and birds. They also cause a range of diseases in farm animals and domesticated pets, some of which can be injurious and are a threat to the farming industry. In chickens/hens, the infectious bronchitis virus, a coronavirus, targets not only the breathing tract but also the urogenital tract. The coronavirus can spread to different organs throughout the chicken. Critical infections have high morbidity and tropism for the salivary, lachrymal and hardarian glands.

Coronavirus particles:

There are four common types of coronavirus that can infect humans.

• 229E (alpha coronavirus)
• NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
• OC43 (beta coronavirus)
• HKU1 (beta coronavirus)

Rarer, more dangerous types include MERS-CoV, which causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome MERS-CoV.

 

 

Coronavirus Vaccine

    The vaccine will likely be based on a new technology that has been tested in animals/mammals and gone through early-stage trials in humans, but has yet to receive regulatory approval against any disease.

  There are no antiviral drugs that are approved for prevention/treatment for coronavirus.

·         Avoid close contact with sick people.

·         Avoid smoking and smoky areas.

·         Coughing and sneezing without covering the mouth.

·         Touching hands with a person who has affected by the virus.

·         Making contact the surface that has the virus

What are the treatments for coronavirus infections?

There are no specific treatments for coronavirus infections.

·         Taking over-the-counter medicines for fever and cough. However, do not give aspirin and cough medicine to children.

·         Using a room humidifier to help ease a sore throat and cough

·         Getting plenty of rest

·         Drinking fluids/waters.
